SPF features a unique network-independent architecture for dynamically stacking and unstacking protocol drivers and device drivers. SPF allows applications to reference specific stacks of required protocol drivers and device drivers, and then assists the application in navigating through these components using an identified data path. In an embedded environment, such applications and protocol stacks can be resident in the device or can be downloaded to the device from a server over the network. The Multimedia Application User Interface (MAUI) system from Microware provides an extensive set of APIs for high performance multimedia and/or user interface requirements.
